Meet Our Physician Assistant
Every weekend, countless student-athletes and weekend warriors twist an ankle, pull a hamstring or throw out their back. When you or a loved one are suffering from an orthopedic condition, waiting for several days or weeks is often not the answer that you want to hear when you call a medical office. At LKO, we pride ourselves on our ability to address urgent orthopedic issues. Having a Physician Assistant team that is highly experienced allows for additional access to an outstanding orthopedic team that is dedicated to collaboration and continuity of care.

What is a Physician Assistant (PA)?
Physician assistants must graduate from an accredited program, and they must pass the national certification exam to obtain their state licensure.
The common roles and responsibilities for a PA at Lederman Kwartowitz Orthopedics & Sports Medicine include:
- Examine patients
- Diagnose injuries
- Develop treatment plans
- Assist in the operating room
- Provide scheduled follow-up care
- Give injections
- Prescribe medications
- Order and interpret tests such as X-ray, MRI, and CT scans
All of these actions are performed with the supervision and consultation of the attending physician. The physician-PA can help increase efficiency and optimize patient care. Frequent consultation and review of patient care, by both the physician and the PA, assures that all patients are receiving the best possible care.
